I have been told that this may have been manufactured to be placed onboard a ship, but I am not sure if this is the case

just to add, I cleaned the dial and saw some branding; Perfecta Peraphone

Fun machine. I know nothing but do have a sound box with same name on a British machine sold in Cambridge England. My machine has no other name on it. Just the plate that says Cambridge.

Nice machine, but I can't see any obvious reason that it would be more appropriate on a ship than any other machine, except one that is screwed down...  Maybe someone guessed that based on its name, similar to the Royal Yacht Britannia...

 

Its shape was more likely designed to be space saving on a table top...

Sorry I can not help but I have a Paillard machine with a celluloid label like yours.
