There are three articles and a video in today's L.A. Times about the cylinder "scene" in southern California:

Interesting discovery, John!

 

As much as we think we know about brown wax, I suspect we'd be surprised at how little we know...  Keep up the good work - -

BTW, these cylinders were found in the Midwest with a bunch of record slips from an LA dealer.  All of the titles were ca. 1898 Columbia's.

 

Regardless, I actually don't think we know much about the brown wax era and most of what we know is eventually disproven.  That's part of its intrigue!
