Brown Wax Cylinders with Roman Numerals on Them

I don't have these home yet but wanted to know what the roman numerals stood for or if someone has ever seen this before. A couple have XX on them and one has VII.

Thanks in advance!

All I can offer is the possibility of the original owner categorizing them in some way.  I have a group of brown wax and early molded black wax, whose owner had carefully inscribed complete tiles and artists in their rims!

I've a brown wax cylinder as well with a 6 roman numeral scratched at the end similar to how yours is. Curious coincidence? Likely just a matter of cataloguing in both cases.
