Valecnik Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 I'm interested to know how the visible part of the horn elbow is finished on an oak 1B. On my oak 1B the horn is of course wood grained but the paint on the upper part of the horn is completely gone. I'm wondering if it was painted brown or if it was wood grained. On the oak III, this is just painted brown, no wood graining. On the mahogany 1Bs that I have seen, the elbow is painted maroon, no wood graining.
Oregonian Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Bruce, I have a dark oak 1B. When I remove the grill and look at the horn, the metal elbow is wood grained on the inside. But it is solid brown where it mounts behind the reproducer and turns down to meet the bell of the horn. Hope this helps. Jerry B.
Valecnik Posted June 25, 2022 Author Posted June 25, 2022 Thanks Jerry. Just the question I wanted answered. So the upper part should be sold brown, not wood grained.
