melvind Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 The expo was great fun and I had a great time. I found nice things that made me a bit poorer than before I went. But, I am very happy with that. Here are some pictures. 3
melvind Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 Oh, and there is Jerry Blais with his Gordophone horns! 2
melvind Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 We were serenaded during the dealer reception Friday night by a fun Barbershop Quartet. 1
phono-phan Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I was great to see everyone at the Midwest Show. There were so many great items and deals to be had. I noticed many new faces in the customer traffic which is a good sign that there is still a good interest in this hobby. I truly appreciate all the hard work done by everyone involved in putting this show on. I am already looking forward to another show next year. 1
Tinfoilphono Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Great pictures, thanks! It looks like there were a lot of great things to be seen. I wish I could have been there.
Fran604g Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Thanks for the photos, it looks like the weekend was a complete success. Fran
melvind Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 I don't have a good picture of this, but during the banquet a really terrific ragtime / jazz band played for us. They were good and entertaining. There was also a very touching tribute to Larry, Mike, and Randy Donaly where they were thanked for 45 of years of phonograph and music box shows and all that it brought to the hobby. And, the good was great too! Especially that cake. Yum!
Rodbrown Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Wonderful photos, Melvind. In the ninth one, with the Edison portrait and the Hawken Pianos sign--I see a very handsome portable off to the left, with a reflective horn in the lid. My cuppa tea, those. I'd have tried to snag it if I hadn't been half a continent away. Also in that photo, about dead center, it looks like that might be the scroll of a resonator violin, Stroh or similar. Cool biz. Thanks for the look-see. Rod
Valecnik Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Really a great show. We had a lot of fun. Hats off to those that made it happen. Also very nice to see so many friends we have not seen for awhile. I'll definitely be back next year. 1

phonogfp Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 My lovely and long-suffering wife, Barbie, agreed to take pictures at the show while I was squandering the family milk money. She shot whatever caught her eye, and I think her images contribute to those already posted here to give an overall impression of what a great show it was. You'll see some familiar faces and wonderful items. APS President John Levin mans the registration/membership table. The laptop to the right displayed a beta version of the new interactive APS website which is due to launch in a few weeks. The Midwest Music EXPO also featured several educational presentations. There was also a Silent Auction which took place during the banquet. Congratulations go to the MME Committee, which consisted of Mark Albertson, Terry Baer, Gregg Cline, and Shawn O'Rourke. These guys put in a tremendous amount of work for over a year to pull off a wonderful event. Here's Mark Albertson (on the right), along with celebrity guest Brad Pitt. Here's Terry Baer (center). Barbie didn't get any shots of Gregg or Shawn, but they were very much in attendance! His may not be a familiar face yet, but here's Brian Parlier, who has acquired and expanded the long-established parts business of the late Ron Sitko. If you haven't yet done business with Brian, there's a good chance you will! APS Vice-President Rod Pickett (left) is the moving force behind the upcoming new APS website. He's another tireless contributor to the organization, and to our hobby. Who says there are no ladies into antique phonographs and records? 2
Tinfoilphono Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Thanks for the great pictures, George (or rather Barbie). I sure wish I could have been there. What a great setting -- spacious and well-lit (and, I hear, air-conditioned!). I sure see a lot of tempting things in those pictures.
phono-phan Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Thanks for posting the pictures. It was a great show and thanks to all in the committee for their hard work to put this on. I am already looking forward to next year.
Fran604g Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 (edited) Tell Barbie (in case I forget the next time I see her), "thanks, and great photos!" I think the Brad Pitt shot might've been a bit out of focus. Must be the phone/iPad? Maybe poor lighting? Mark looks great! Lol Edited June 14, 2022 by Fran604g Spelling

NateO Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Thank you both for sharing photos! It looks like it was a wonderful show. There's certainly a lot of nice stuff spread out on those tables!
Lee Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Thanks for the great photos! My wife Mary and I were there and found a treasure or two. Enjoyed the Nipper collectibles seminar. APS took very good care of all in attendance. Loved being able to go from our room and to the show and back. The show was fun and worthwhile! Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it a reality. Lee & Mary
