How to install new belt on Edison B-80?

I took the upper grille off and removed the turntable assembly.  But how do you remove the spindle shaft so you can put a new belt on the turntable pulley?  I remove all of the screws, but the shaft still won't budge.  Any ideas?  Marc.

The seller had these instructions on Ebay, but they don't make sense to me.

Installation Instructions (For B-80):

First remove the front grill by lifting it up and pulling the bottom forward. You then you need to remove the top grill on your phonograph. To do this remove the six small screws, and push pu carefully from underneath to remove. the top grill has a left and right side connected together with two small nails so be careful when removing. Once the top grill is removed you will see 4 mounting screws that hold the turntable in place. Take off those screws and then slightly lift  turntable snd slide it about an inch towards the back of the unit. This will provide you with the slack you need to install the belt.

Going thought the frot grill, loop the leather belt over the pulley under the turntable and the bully above the motor, while simultaneously pulling the middle tension wheel to the left of the belt. When you release the tension belt it should push against the belt to exert tension on it. Your can then carefully slide the turntable forward, to realign with the mounting screw holes. reattach the turntable mounting screws and the top grill, and your phonograph is ready to play!!

I finally figured out how to put the belt on.  I just didn't understand the instructions.  I got it on OK, but it broke after one play!

I remember this being a royal PIA on my A-80. It took me a long time to realize that the turntable and spindle don't separate.😒 Fortunately, my machine still had the original double-stitched belt, but it was greasy and had expanded. Someone here on the forum suggested to soak and clean  it in denatured alcohol and then let it air dry. This really shrunk the belt again enough to fit properly. I also found that the pulley had actually a cork surface where the belt runs, but that was greasy as well and was falling apart. Anyway, also found that there was a tiny set screw under the cork that held the pulley to the spindle shaft. I removed and replaced that cork lining with thin cork from a hobby store. It comes in big rolls, so I can resurface probably another 500 pulleys.😉 This was 9 years ago and I had never any more problems with the belt slipping.

Thanks Andreas for that excellent information on your A-80.  I had a B-60 once with a bad motor.  Luckily my repairman had a good A-80 with a bad cabinet, so he swapped motors.  Yes, we found out that the A-80 and the B-60 luckily had the same motors.  But the A-80 motors and B-60 motors are more troublesome that the B-80 improved motors.  The vendor who sold me the belt is sending another one, so everything is good.
