Here is a video of the rare Canadian Nursery Berliner Gram-O-Phone in action. Despite the clever governor design which is a definite improvement from the American Hand-Wind Berliner Gramophone (which utilizes the heavy drive pully which functions somewhat like a fly wheel), it is still quite a challenge to maintain a constant speed for the duration of record play.
