Valecnik Posted May 14, 2020 Author Posted May 14, 2020 No, not paper mache Rod but rather a sort of cloth embedded with something to harden and then smooth it. So it certainly could be mistaken for paper mache. The were made for cylinder machines too. Many but not all are characterized by gold band around the perimeter of the bell, double gold band on the outside around the middle of the bell and the Linenoid logo near the small end. The one on the GEM is not mine. The last four are of a horn currently on eBAY. 1
Analogous Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Given its name and the era, I'll bet it's related to lincrusta, a linoleum based deeply embossed material that was used as a wall covering in ornate Victorian houses. John
