Edison Opera horn question

Has anyone ever seen a Spruce Music Master Horn for Operas. I started thinking about how that would be a pretty options.

Thanks

I'm sure it would be pretty, but I've never seen nor heard of a genuine one. (I did see a picture of a fake Opera -- replica cabinet with Amberola 1B mechanism -- with one of Don Gfell's replica spruce horns.)

I don't believe Edison offered that as an option, but since spruce cygnet horns were available, it's not impossible an owner might have requested such an upgrade from his dealer. But if such a beast does exist in a collection somewhere, it would likely be impossible to prove that it wasn't put together much later.

More and more I think all Music Master horns are genuine, we just need to talk about if they are from 1920 and earlier or modern era.  Only Modern Era Music Master horns are made out of spruce.

No, spruce Music Master horns were available as Cygnet equipment from 1910, and were available in spruce for disc machines as well.

No, like Rene, I've never seen a spruce option offered for the Opera either in catalogs or in The Edison Phonograph Monthly.

Thanks.

I think a spruce veneered mahogany horn would look very nice. I am not worried if it is authentic to the Phonograph era.
