"On This Day in Phonographic History..."

 

December 20, 1895: Frank Capps filed for a U.S. patent for a “Spring Motor for Phonographs.”  This would become the Edison “Triton” motor, which powered the Edison Spring-Motor, Triumph, and Concert Phonographs for the next 17 years.

 

October 27, 1896: Frank Capps was granted U.S. Patent No.570,378.
