"On This Day in Phonographic History..."

 

June 29, 1891: Joseph Wassenich filed for a U.S. patent for a “Tablet for Recording Sound Vibrations.” This was the first known envisioning of a flexible, 2-sided disc with a paper label, and a secondary hole (as adopted by Zonophone in 1900).
