"On This Day in Phonographic History..."

 

June 1, 1903: Abner Seeley filed for a U.S. patent on a “Record Box.” This would become the familiar container with indented bottoms and lids which housed Edison Gold-Moulded Records.

 

December 11, 1906: Abner Seeley was granted U.S. patent (No.837,970) on a “Record Box.”
