nancyexeland Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 I inherited a World Phonograph with boxes of 78’s. It is like the one you can buy ad for. Would like to sell. Anyone know what is worth? 1
AZ_ Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 What you have is commonly known as an off-brand phonograph. From what little information is known, I believe the World phonograph company was formed around 1917, and only lasted a few years. Many of the off brands went out of business by the early 1920's. These machines are not of much interest to most serious collectors. You haven't included a good photo of the whole machine. A lot depends on condition (no missing or broken parts, runs & plays well, and cabinet cosmetically good). But even in good condition, off-brand phonographs rarely sell for very much. Maybe $100 if you are lucky and find the right buyer. Depending on how many records, their condition, labels and titles, the records could be worth a little money. Generic boxes of records might sell for only $5 or $10 per box of 40 or 50 records. How many records do you have?
