January 15, 1882: Born: Henry Burr, the most prolific of all acoustic-era recording artists.

 

April 6, 1941: Died.

Here is a fun song from the orthophonic era featuring Henry Burr. Henry Burr and Billy Murray are assisted by Carl Matthieu, and Frank Banta plays the piano. I've always heard that Billy Murray had a cold during this session. And, it does sound like that is true.

Dan, according to "Popular American Recording Pioneers" by Tim Gracyk and Frank Hoffman, this is the only duet those two giants ever recorded together.  December 12, 1925.
