phonogfp Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 "On This Day in Phonographic History..." February 1, 1859: Born: Victor Herbert, prolific American composer and conductor whose brief tenure at the National Phonograph Company fortuitously coincided with the zenith of 2-minute and 4-minute cylinder recording (1909 – 1911). #antiquephonographsociety #phonograph #gramophone #antique 1
melvind Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 (edited) This is a transfer and video of a Victor Herbert tune he recorded many times for Victor. It dates from 1911 and is a pretty song. I suppose the video belongs in the Transfers and Videos section, but it seems to match up with George's post though it is a Victor record and not a cylinder record.
