RodPickett Posted Monday at 06:32 PM Posted Monday at 06:32 PM APS remains thankful for document contributions from its members to enhance our Content Libraries. We have received some unusual artifacts from personal collections that have been seldom, if ever seen. We were fortunate to scan a miscellaneous grouping of documents from a direct descendant of the Gennett family, founders of the Starr – Gennett Piano and Phonograph Companies, Richmond, Indiana. While resource availability to organize and categorize these documents has been limited, one of the more interesting pieces is this copy of the original contract Hoagy Carmichael signed for the recording of “Stardust”. 1
RodPickett Posted Monday at 06:33 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:33 PM Another document uncovered was this letter from Mary B. Bryan, wife of political candidate William Jennings Bryan, to Alice Gennet [sic] from 1897.
RodPickett Posted Monday at 06:34 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:34 PM During the recent Midwest EXPO we were also able to scan numerous documents pertaining to Ermine Calloway, still being analyzed and grouped. Another member made some pristine documents pertaining to Aeolian Vocalion Phonographs which will be uploaded to the Content Library soon. 1
phonogfp Posted Monday at 11:51 PM Posted Monday at 11:51 PM Thanks for this, Rod. Maintaining an online archive whose existence is not dependent upon a single individual is a valuable contribution to our field. The efforts of those involved are very much appreciated! George P.
