oldhouseguy Posted Friday at 02:10 PM Posted Friday at 02:10 PM I have quite a few Edison disc records that look like they are brand new. I do not see anything with my eye that could cause a problem but they start playing good but towards the middle they are unplayable. What baffles me is that the records look brand new.
phonogfp Posted Friday at 06:28 PM Posted Friday at 06:28 PM It may not be the records, but the machine. Can you offer details on the machine? George P.

I agree it sounds like a machine problem, not a record problem. You could try running the machine with no record on the platter, reproducer lowered. Make sure the stylus does not touch the felt. It shouldn't unless it's out of adjustment. Then observe the reproducer and arm travelling across the platter and see if the problem still happens.
