Jeff238 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Here is a fairly scarce brown wax cylinder. It was made by the United States Phonograph Company around 1897. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Phonograph_Company The song tells of an unfortunate "stampeder" in the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890s. https://www.nps.gov/klgo/learn/goldrush.htm The sheet music to the song may be found here: https://levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/collection/177/044 The cylinder itself is somewhat faint through the announcement and the first 30 seconds or so, but clears up nicely after that. It seems to have been recorded with low volume or perhaps it's a duplicate. If you listen very closely after the song ends you will hear some indistinct talking in the studio. I have also edited out the worst of the clicks and pops. Dan W. Quinn - He Is Sleeping In The Klondike Vale Tonight.wav 1
