oldhouseguy Posted Friday at 09:01 PM Posted Friday at 09:01 PM Hi - Attached are photos of my Aeloian. This is all the info I have. Is there a way to tell what year it is. Also, the grill cloth is missing. Does anyone know what color it would have been? Thanks in advance! Ken
phonogfp Posted Saturday at 02:06 AM Posted Saturday at 02:06 AM There is a downloadable book on Aeolian-Vocalion Phonographs in the "Member Resources" section of the APS website. In glancing it over, it appears your Style G dates from 1916-1917. At the time, Aeolian was offering machines priced from $35.00 to $350.00. The Style G was $100.00. There's a large amount of information, original catalog illustrations, and photographs on Aeolian machines and records in the 249-page book. George P. 2
oldhouseguy Posted Saturday at 04:43 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:43 PM Thank you. Some photos show a pink or tan grill cloth. Would you know if the cloth color was an option? Was thinking about tan, but don't want to use the wrong color.
phonogfp Posted Saturday at 11:53 PM Posted Saturday at 11:53 PM Beware of recent photos of grille cloth, because people put all sorts of colors on their machines - some even use garish pattered cloth. I'm not aware of original specifications or options (if any) for Aeolian grille cloth colors. George P.
