oldhouseguy Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hi - Attached are photos of my Aeloian. This is all the info I have. Is there a way to tell what year it is. Also, the grill cloth is missing. Does anyone know what color it would have been? Thanks in advance! Ken 2
phonogfp Posted March 8 Posted March 8 There is a downloadable book on Aeolian-Vocalion Phonographs in the "Member Resources" section of the APS website. In glancing it over, it appears your Style G dates from 1916-1917. At the time, Aeolian was offering machines priced from $35.00 to $350.00. The Style G was $100.00. There's a large amount of information, original catalog illustrations, and photographs on Aeolian machines and records in the 249-page book. George P. 3
oldhouseguy Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Thank you. Some photos show a pink or tan grill cloth. Would you know if the cloth color was an option? Was thinking about tan, but don't want to use the wrong color.
phonogfp Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Beware of recent photos of grille cloth, because people put all sorts of colors on their machines - some even use garish pattered cloth. I'm not aware of original specifications or options (if any) for Aeolian grille cloth colors. George P.
