My Aeolian

Hi - Attached are photos of my Aeloian. This is all the info I have. Is there a way to tell what year it is. Also, the grill cloth is missing. Does anyone know what color it would have been? Thanks in advance! Ken

There is a downloadable book on Aeolian-Vocalion Phonographs in the "Member Resources" section of the APS website.  In glancing it over, it appears your Style G dates from 1916-1917.  At the time, Aeolian was offering machines priced from $35.00 to $350.00.  The Style G was $100.00.

 

There's a large amount of information, original catalog illustrations, and photographs on Aeolian machines and records in the 249-page book.

Thank you. Some photos show a pink or tan grill cloth. Would you know if the cloth color was an option? Was thinking about tan, but don't want to use the wrong color.

Beware of recent photos of grille cloth, because people put all sorts of colors on their machines - some even use garish pattered cloth.

 

I'm not aware of original specifications or options (if any) for Aeolian grille cloth colors.
