AudioAntique Posted January 10 Posted January 10 It is with great sadness that we learned that Tom McCarthy passed on December 27,2024 at age 76. Tom had a lengthy battle with declining health. He found his calling in education and gymnastics. He co-founded Berks Gymnastic Academy in 1975 with his wife Sandi. It grew into a highly and nationally recognized gymnastic academy and earned him national and international recognition. Tom coached the US Women’s Gymnastics Team at the 1983 World Championships in Hungary and the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and 1985 World Championships in Canada. Tom and Sandi also enjoyed collecting Nippers and phonographs and were regular attendants at the early Florida shows and at the Wayne Musical Extravaganza. We send our sympathy to Sandi and thank them for sharing their wonderful collections for all to appreciate in the many of the collector books written by Timothy Fabrizio and George Paul and the Nipper Collectibles books by Robin & Joan Rolfs. 1
phonogfp Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Sad news indeed. Tom and Sandi had an outstanding collection, and were great hosts to Tim and me when we were shooting for the books. Sincere condolences to Sandi and family. George Paul
melvind Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I am so sad to hear this. I have many advertising phonograph items and other misc things from his collection. Tom and Sandi were so nice and welcoming to me over several years. I will miss Tom a lot. He will be missed for sure
