I've finally gotten my hands on the most prized 78 in my small collection. The 1933 recording of Meyer Davis and His Orchestra performing "By a Waterfall," from the film, "Footlight Parade."

My interest is purely familial. My grandfather, Johnny Ingram, was only supposed to play flute on this recording, which he did. But when the singer never showed up for the session, Pappy was pressed into action.

My father had this record dubbed onto tape 38-years ago, and said he didn't know where the disc ended up. I found it over the weekend in the back of a cabinet. I love it, even if there is a small gouge about 2:50 in (hence the edit).

For the record, I know it's a late record for this machine. I'm playing it once, with a soft needle. I am not a music preservationist; I enjoy my records as folks did when they were new.

Here it is!
