DonleyAuctions Posted June 11 Posted June 11 This past weekend at Donley Auctions, there was a recreation of a photo taken at the very first phonograph show in Union, Illinois, back in 1974! The original photo captured the excitement and camaraderie of a group of phonograph enthusiasts back in the day. Sadly, time has taken its toll, and only one member from that original photo, Larry Donley, remains with us today. Larry (pictured right, center) continues to be a passionate phonograph collector and enthusiast, an inspiration to us all. Recreating this photo was a bittersweet experience. It was a chance to celebrate the rich history of our hobby and the friendships forged around a shared love of phonographs. But it was also a reminder of the cherished members of our community who are no longer with us. Speaking of phonographs , this week Donley Auctions is holding a Radio & Phonograph Auction on June 12-13 at 10 am CT in Union, IL. We have a large variety of phonographs, radios, music boxes, and so much more! We have items for every collector. Check out the catalog at DonleyAuctions.com. Hope to see you at the auction! homestead Posted June 12 Posted June 12 It was good to see my old mentor, Larry Dupon, the tall fellow in the center. He left us too soon. James Manker.
