Jeff238 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This is an electronic transfer of a Columbia Washington DC channel rim brown wax cylinder. This transfer was done by Glenn Sage of www.tinfoil.com when he visited me in October of 2002. If you listen carefully to the space between the announcement and the beginning of the music you will hear a soft "clunk". This is because Columbia at that time would make the announcement on each of the recording phonographs individually, stopping each machine after the announcement was made. They would then start all of the recording phonographs at once and begin the selection. Glenn was of the opinion that this particular record could have been made in 1894 rather than 1893. It did not come with an original title slip but a previous owner long ago made his own. If you search the web for this selection you will find an acoustic transfer I made for a guest appearance on the Antique Phonograph Music Program broadcast on station WFMU. That program is still available on their archives and may be found at https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/7192 . Brilliant Quartette - Mary Ann Medley.wav 2
