melvind Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 This is a pretty rare type of record to have been made in 1926. I wonder how and why this record was produced. This type of record would have been years out of date by the mid 1920s. Steve Porter originally recorded the same thing for Victor in 1908. The early recording was released as three different numbers. Number 5604 would have been one sided. 16768 and 16936 were paired with a second side from 1911, “Clancey’s Wooden Wedding”. The new electrically recorded 1926 version pairs those two songs as well. Steve Porter must have had lots of pull with record labels. He recorded this not only for Victor, but at least Columbia, Edison, and Brunswick as well. Likely other labels and over a couple of decades.   2
