A few pics of my A model Triumph.  It looks pretty impressive set up with the large brass horn but I have yet to convince my wife it belongs in the living room so it's in a smaller room normally displayed with a 14 inch all brass horn.

Are you sure it is the wives and significant others that are kooky? ?

Yea she didn't think much of my suggestion to use some of the kitchen cupboards for cylinder storage either.  What do we need all those pots and pans in there for anyway.  Jeez.?

The ‘rents too if you still have to deal with them.

I’ve always wanted to get a Triumph but I never had the dough. Oh well I have the Home Model D to tie me over until then. Maybe next year...

Being single is just so much easier and no one argued with me when I got rid of my kitchen table and chairs to make room for phonographs!!!

Very nice, Bruce!

There's something about a pre-1905 machine with a big brass horn that's magic.  For me it's probably association with images I pined over as a teenager.  Frow included a picture of an Edison Concert with a large brass horn in his first edition of A Guide to the Edison Cylinder Phonograph (1970).  Here's the cover of my well-worn copy, along with the image in question:

At the time I acquired this book, I had an Edison Standard with a black flowered morning glory horn - and I loved it.  But all that shining brass supported by a (somewhat wonky) floor crane just knocked me out.  In the summer of 1971 I found a rather battered 36" brass horn at a flea market for $10.  I spent hours polishing that thing, and I still remember the miracle of shiny warmth breaking through the dull tarnish beneath my rag.  When that horn was finally polished, I mounted it to my Standard (suspending it with a bird cage stand) and took in the magic.  I've never lost my love for shiny brass horns - - as long as they're old!

Oh - - it sounds good too, Bruce!?

Thank you George.  I suffer from the same affliction re. those big brass horns on the early machines.    Oh and I've got that same book.  Read it from cover to cover, many times over, dreaming of some of the pictured machines, most of which I'd never even seen.  I purchased my first cylinder machine, a Standard model D with black Edison Standard petaled horn, about 1980.
