Columbia Disc Graphophone ~ What Did I Buy?

Recommended Posts

Ok….I buy things at local auctions all the time and picked this up recently for $185. I’ve done my research and I believe it’s the model BN. Also came with a few albums of records.

In my words, it works. I’ve had it playing already. Piece is really nice….is it worth restoring or does it have some value? I’m kinda torn on this one….it’s so cool. Would be a sick piece to find a spot for in my home.

Thanks in advance. I’m clueless!! 🙃

You have indeed an early style BN using one of the Talk-O-Phone cabinets acquired by Columbia through the court settlement.  It dates from around 1907 and was distributed primarily through mail order houses.  Very nice!

Indeed, George. Here is the Talk-O-Phone that I mentioned in another post. This is indeed your cabinet Eraser21, which led to confusion with me thinking it was a Columbia BN variant also. I'm holding onto it for a friend. Still torn between posting it for sale for him, or buying it for myself to restore. 😂😅 Meanwhile, it sits on my dining room table awaiting its fate.

Yes, it tells me that from across the table every night at dinner. 😂

Almost done with my semi-restoration of the Edison A-100, so at least that's one less project in the way of this one. 😉
