Chrisingramci Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) Yesterday I posted photos of my latest record haul in Brunswick, Maine. Included was this record. Someone commented, “the catastrophic electric re-recording?” I’m curious what he meant, and if anyone here might have an idea. It does seem to be a 1933 rerelease, and has a runout groove… From what I’ve been able to determine, the “curtain” labels were 1933 Caruso re-releases with added musical accompaniment, which leads me to assume they were re-recorded electrically. But I’m at a loss as to the “catastrophic” comment. Thanks! Edited June 30, 2023 by Chrisingramci
Roaring20s Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Interesting. I do not know, but I would ask the person that made this comment. James.
Chrisingramci Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Well, it turns out the fellow was just giving his opinion on the quality of the (re)recording.

Chrisingramci Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) Well, here it is. Not sure it sounds "catastrophic," at least to these untrained ears... Edited July 12, 2023 by Chrisingramci
Chrisingramci Posted July 14, 2023 Author Posted July 14, 2023 Too late to delete this, but, if it's okay, here's the link... Please let me know if posting such links is frowned upon...
