phonogfp Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 I'm blessed to have a real pal for a wife. Barbie rode over 1300 miles to and from a show she didn't care about, volunteered to man the registration table for an hour, and while I was spending money and jawboning, she took a boatload of pictures of the 2023 Midwest Music EXPO! Here are her images, with a few captions... George P. Robin & Joan Rolfs' booth. Ken Flaherty's booth. Our hero. One of the educational presentations given on Saturday was collecting and restoring Nippers. This fellow looks like a good candidate. Mark Gaisser (aka "Croakinfrog"). Joan Rolfs. From left, Tom Papp, Terry Baer, Joan Rolfs. It's hard to appreciate the size of the EXPO from the pictures. Again - it's a big show. A little of everything - - even an Amberola IB/III mechanism. A memorial to Charley Hummel. A memorial to Bill Feiner. Gregg Cline, maker of quality decals. Brian and Julie Parlier's booth. Joe Filer listening to our hero, while young Nick Hoffmann struggles to stay awake. Bob Coon. Ken Brekke gives his feet a rest. Meagan Hennessey of Archeophone Records. John Duffy of the Horn House. Our hero with Jake Danieri. People confuse us a lot. Nick Hoffmann bought an Edison Concert at the show. I bought a Q. A memorial to Don Gfell. The following images are from the Silent Auction, which took place during the banquet on Saturday evening: Jerry Blais, Ken Brekke, and Robin Rolfs finding treasure at the Silent Auction. End of Silent Auction Images. Joan Reynolds played ragtime piano during the mingling prior to the meal. She can really tinkle those ivories. Our hero stumbling through his announcements just prior to the meal. ...and "congratulating" the new APS President: Terry Baer. Terry briefly addresses the crowd. The Red Rose Ragtime Band. These cats are hot. If your feet weren't tapping, you'd better check your pulse. Barbie's favorite part of the trip. 9 1
melvind Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Wow! That is an amazing set of pictures covering the entire show and extra events. Thanks so much. It was a terrific show and I had a great time not only buying but seeing my once a year friends that I like so much. It is one of the highlights of my year. 1
Oregonian Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Please thank Barbie for the terrific photos. She covered so much more than just the show. I had a wonderful time. Many thanks to the people that made it a special and successful event. Jerry B. 1
audiophile102 Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 The pictures are great! I especially enjoyed seeing my wife digging through a pile of records on my behalf. Shes the white-haired lady in the Victor t-shirt and dark brimmed glasses. Thanks to you and Barbie. 1
Roaring20s Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 A great overview of the show. I felt as if I attended it. James. 1
Tinfoilphono Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Thanks for that post! I'm sorry I wasn't there. It looks like it was a very successful event, with some fantastic machines. 1

Valecnik Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Wow what a fantastic photo tour of the entire event. Thanks George to you and Barb! Also a HUGE thanks to APS and all those involved in organizing this fantastic event. From my perspective it gets an A+++.
Sully64 Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Great pictures. My wife and I went to this show for our first time and thoroughly enjoyed it!! We will definitely go again next year. 1
BruceW Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Thank you for the great photos. I was unable to attend this year due to family commitments but I will double down next year and make it. Maybe even make the cross country trip with the Jerry B trio. Bruce
melvind Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 The Oregon Trio (Jerry, Stan and Dan) got home to Albany (Jerry) and Portland (Dan and Stan) today. We had a great trip and the show was fantastic. So many great things to see and the friendships there are one of the best things at the Expo. Tired but happy! 4
phonogfp Posted June 23, 2023 Author Posted June 23, 2023 Glad you're all safely home, Dan! We arrived home Monday evening, and I'm only now recovered... It was good to see the three of you! George P.
RobP62 Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 What a terrific show that must have been! Thank you so much to Barbie for the great pictures! I wish that I could have planned a vacation from work to attend. Well, hopefully in the near future or in my retirement! I especially appreciate the memorials to Misters Hummel, Fiener and Gfell . They were great men and contributers to this wonderful hobby that I’ve enjoyed most of my life. I’m very familiar with Mark, alias Croakinfrog, because of my many transactions with him on EBay. Best regards , Robert P.
