PeterN Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I am new to the hobby, and decided it was time to get my Victor VV-90 up and working. I am working on the motor now, and after removing the platter, noticed a screw hole with no apparent function. After receiving the reproduction Owners Manual for it, it would seem that the screw attached a bracket that held the tone arm from moving during shipment. I would like to have one (just to make the machine complete) should I ever have to move to another house. Does anyone have a picture of one, or an extra one they are willing to part with? If I knew what it looked like I might be able to make something for the short term. Thanks, Peter
phonogfp Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 That's a new one on me. Can you post a scan of the image that suggests the use of a tone arm bracket? George P.
L4tD Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Here is an image from the Victrola instruction booklet that accompanied Victrolas in the early 1920s. I've never actually seen one of these shipping fixtures in the wild. 1 1
phonogfp Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I've never seen one either! I haven't even noticed that image in Victrola instruction booklets! Thanks for sharing it. George P.
JacobW Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) Me and my brother have a vv-xi, vv-x, vv-xvii and none of them have one. Maybe the dealers were instructed to dispose of them after delivery possibly. Edited February 1, 2023 by JacobW
PeterN Posted February 1, 2023 Author Posted February 1, 2023 O.K. Thanks for the photo. The manual I was looking at didn't have a good photo (not as detailed and a bit blurry), just a text mention of the bracket. Seems to be a simple sheet metal bracket, easily made. Regards, Peter
mattrx Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I had one of these on my VE 8-35X. I can’t find it at the moment, but it looked just like the one pictured, but a little taller. Matt 1
