MTPhono Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I haven't run across many Edison cabinet cards. Here is one I recently obtained - looks to be early. The seller claimed it was from 1890 but perhaps it is earlier? 1
Grammophon Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) Must be 1887 or 1888, I guess. This large size version ("panel card") was signed in May 1889: https://grammophon-platten.de/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?47234.last Edited June 16, 2020 by Grammophon 1
Tinfoilphono Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) That photo was originally taken on November 22, 1884, by a photographer named Falk. It was distributed widely for many years thereafter. Here's a large format signed version of the same image that I used to own, a bit faded unfortunately. Edited June 16, 2020 by Tinfoilphono 2
MTPhono Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 So maybe 1890 wasn't wrong at all! Thanks for the additional information.
