Mascagni: Cavalleria Rusticana: “Intermezzo” Vocal Violin Imitation by Edith Helena 1907

This is one of the most unusual records I have ever encountered. A Vocal Violin imitation is something I cannot imagine anyone thinking to do. But, Edith Helena did so. She performed in both Opera and Vaudeville. I seriously doubt that the “violin imitation” ever came up in her opera work.

Great transfer Dan!

Imitating a musical instrument --- maybe this is where the Mills Brothers got the idea for their act😉!  There's almost a theremin-like quality to parts of her rendition of this selection.
