This morning I finished cleaning and re-inserting Edison Triumph Springs into their barrels. If you have done this, you know the 2" springs make this a difficult job, ask my hands. So I am looking for cloud wisdom. Does anyone know of a tool one could use to recompress these springs outside the barrel then slip them in and release the pressure into the barrel. I know if one purchased new springs this might be possible because of the rod bent round the springs. If you have ideas, I (and others, I'm sure) would love to hear them. I never know when I would be asked to do this again.

That is exactly what I would love to find. Thx!

You might want to look for a large spring winding tool used by clockmakers, similar to this:

I would love to find out where I can actually buy a large spring winding tool like that which is able to wind larger phonograph springs as well. Everything I find seems to go up to a maximum of 2" diameter. Does anyone know a supplier where one can actually purchase such a larger spring winder?

Thanks

Andreas
