Edison Amberola 30

I have two Edison Amberola players that have maroon cloth covering the backside of the speaker grille.  I have been told that this is not right

The original grille cloth for a 30 appears to have been a light tan/gold color.  A lightweight fabric was necessary so as to not muffle the sound.  Unfortunately, this resulted in a rather delicate fabric which usually has not survived.
