“Too Much Mustard” by National Promenade Band 1913

Blue Amberol record number 1925, Too Much Mustard, played on an Edison Model F Home Phonograph. I tried something new on this one. I bought a new microphone gadget and recorded the sound of the machine playing. I then combined it with images and some video of the record being played. I need to experiment more and try other types of records. This one is older but is clear and plays loudly so I thought it would be a good place to start. It is a bit distorted on the loudest passages, but the record kind of is as well. So, it sounds pretty good for a first attempt.

There is also a Diamond Disc recording (51035) of the song from the same year by the same band, but it is entirely different take and sounds nothing like the cylinder.

Tinfoilphono

One of my very favorite Blue Amberols. That's the one I leave on the mandrel of my Opera to demonstrate whenever casual visitors express an interest. It always generates amazement and enthusiasm.
