Wanted, Wax Amberol "Special K"

Hey all,

I just dropped my only copy of the 4-minute Wax Amberol "Special K" Peerless Minstrels - by The Peerless Quartet while dusting -- and I made it explode.

I would like to replace it if any of you have one to sell at a reasonable price. It is one of the "demo" Amberols that the Edison Co. supplied to customers who purchased the 4-minute attachment to upgrade their 2-minute Phonograph. I have the original box and lid, so if yours is in a mismatched box, that's okay provided the record is in Very Good to Excellent condition and very well protected for shipping.

For shipping, it will need to be double boxed. The record will need to be carefully stuffed on the inside with paper or bubble wrap, (preferably placed in an appropriate fitting cylinder record box or other protective tubing) surrounded by lots of bubble wrap, snuggly but not tightly fitted in a rigid box that's also wrapped in lots of bubble wrap, then placed into another larger sturdy box; the two boxes should have adequate space between them (at least 2 inches on each side, top and bottom) so that they do not contact each other!

We all know the routine by now. Wax Amberols are very fragile and need special attention for shipping to succeed without catastrophe!

Hello. I'm looking for a vintage record player that has both-sides-play capability AND record stacking/sequencing, which is a very rare and old combination. The models of phonograph that played vinyl records this way were produced as late as the 1950s. Jukeboxes obviously perform(ed) the same functionality, but they are more expensive and bulky. The 6 turntables listed in the Subject of this topic are the only models ever sold to perform these functions simultaneously (that I know of). They also all had 33/45 rpm compatibility, which is necessary for my collection (The Thorens CD-50 did exactly the same thing as the CD-53, just with 78 rpm only). Very few were made, and they are very hard to find.
If anyone
1. owns/knows someone who owns one of these players,
2. knows where to find one of these players,
3. knows who to ask to find one of these players,
I would greatly appreciate a genuine, serious reply below. If you're just going to comment about how the Thorens CD-53 looked like a kitchen appliance, I would appreciate if you kept that in the drafts. I am serious about finding one, and I have already searched everywhere else online. If no one can help me here, I will just go to shops in Sweden or other places in Europe myself.
Once again, the models are as follows:
- Thorens CD-53 (3 speed turnover changer)
- Fisher/Lincoln L-70 (vacuum-flipper, usually in Fisher consoles)
- Markel Playmaster 74/75 (dual arm "sandwich" player)
- Capehart 16-E/P-7 (big "pancake" flipper, must be the later 3 speed version)

A kind fellow enthusiast made me aware of a Granby Console Phonograph currently in the Washington State area. Normal people would give up and simply think that is too far or unrealistic, especially for an Off-Brand. [I am in Eastern NC] But, before I move on to bigger and better things, I figured I would create a post, just on the off chance that there may be some collectors in the Oregon or Washington State area that would remotely entertain bringing this phonograph eastward sometime, at their convenience, in the coming months.....

Hiya folks,

Looking to buy a nice condition, all original complete AB. Please PM me here or email me fpratt1426 at gmail dot com.

It must be in perfect playing condition with all nickel plating bright and shiny. The cabinet and lid must be entirely complete with a nice decal and no crushed or damaged areas, so that it displays nicely.

Of course, the mandrel to play Grand cylinders is mandatory. A high-quality reproduction is fine, provided it matches the overall condition of the machine and looks period correct.

Packing shall be double boxed as has been described by many of us in the past. The packing needs to be able to withstand Armageddon.

With a record is a big plus.
